YABLOCHNAYA-SLIVA

Our Story

Founded in 2022, Yablochnaya-Sliva began as a passion project by a group of architects, historians, and design enthusiasts who shared a common appreciation for Canada's diverse architectural landscape. What started as a small blog documenting noteworthy buildings across the country has since evolved into a comprehensive resource dedicated to exploring, celebrating, and preserving Canadian architecture.

Our name, Yablochnaya-Sliva, reflects our appreciation for the fusion of different cultural influences that characterize Canadian architecture - just as these elements come together to create something unique and distinctly Canadian.

Our Mission

At Yablochnaya-Sliva, we believe that architecture is more than just buildings; it's a tangible reflection of our history, culture, and aspirations. Our mission is to:

  • Document and celebrate Canada's architectural heritage
  • Raise awareness about preservation challenges and successes
  • Highlight innovative contemporary designs across the country
  • Provide educational resources for students, professionals, and enthusiasts
  • Foster appreciation for the built environment among the general public
